Istanbul New Town Tour


Sarıyer was within the borders of Beyoğlu district and Çatalca Province until 1930. … With the administrative regulation made in 1930, today's Sarıyer district was established. The first municipality election in the district was held in 1984. Bahçeköy Town, which was a municipality in the 1990s, was dissolved in 2008 and turned into a neighborhood.


It is the second mass housing initiative in this then empty area after 1st Levent, the construction of which was started in 1947 and opened to settlement in 1950. The construction of 192 villas of Etiler Building Cooperative, a partnership of Etibank, started in 1954. Etiler Mahallesi got its name from the building cooperative that built the first villas here.


Dolmabahçe Palace was built by the thirty-first Ottoman sultan, Sultan Abdülmecid. Dolmabahçe Palace, which was designed with a Western understanding in accordance with the modernization goal of the Ottoman Empire, was opened for use on 7 June 1856. The construction of this magnificent palace, which started on 13 June 1843, took 13 years.
